Our History

Messer's D Galley & M Rogers founded the company in 1975 manufacturing switchgear for the National Coal Board from premises at Thorp Arch, Wetherby.

The requirements for high specification, bespoke, robust switchgear was the

basis for the reputation of the company, something that has been carried on throughout the years.

During the 1980's the client base widened, and sustained growth continued in

other areas not only supporting the mining industry but industrial & processing.

The product base had increased from switchboards and development of MCC's, process control, pneumatic & instrument panels, were achieved with high

engineering integrity.

By 1990 the company was well established with a £2 Million turnover, Mr Galley had reached retirement and Mr C Houseman & Mr S Shepherd took over as directors in 1992. Changes throughout the 1990's in markets, with demise of the Coal Industry, brought about a redesign of the switchboards, still keeping the high specification but developing a modular concept, ensured easier manufacturing techniques & faster production methods.

1996 brought about a change of premises with relocation to Sherburn in a purpose built factory increasing office & engineering capacity, to cope with the continued successful growth. New markets developed into retail, commercial, health & education. By 1999, the factory was extended to the current manufacturing area, modernisation and automation was implemented and major investment into bringing all manufacturing in-house with CNC Machines, Sheetmetal Presses & Copper processing all into one single manufacturing facility.

Throughout the new millennium the establishment of branded products for front access (GR60), Rear Access (Sherburn) were cemented; with a redesign to increase capacity & stacking density. To complement the product range a modular panelboard (DG2000) was developed and brought into production.

By 2003 major projects were now been undertaken integrating HV, LV, Sub Distribution, SCADA, PLC etc as full project management. Integration into "Beama" in 2004 allowed us to voice our vast experience to aid in shaping the future on the switchboard industry.

During 2006 our own in-house thermal test laboratory was built to perform enhanced testing and integration of 3D CAD/CAM modelling design to provide faster manufacturing to exact precise design verification.

2010+ currently leaves the company very strong, with increased levels of R&D, well established products, experienced engineering capabilities, and a wide customer base.
